Is there a trick to removing the throttle cable from the Predator 50 carb? I'm swapping the carb out for the first time. Do you just twist the cable to align it and pull it out? Or do you have to remove the screw and plate on the carb to get to it? Thanks.

 

If you have to,loosen the cable adjuster lock nut on the carb elbow and turn it in to get more slack. Pull the spring up out of the slide,hold the spring back,there should be a wire clip holding the slide needle,pull it out of the way and the cable can be pushed down and removed from the slide.

 

IIRC some of those Chinese carbs can not be opened up the carb is literally like $20 and comes with a cable in it.

 

Thanks O.P.T. That worked. Got the quad put back together. When I start it up, it accelerates hard without me applying any throttle input. It goes about 100 feet then dies. It's a Runtong carb (model RB-008 I think). The mixture screw is 2 turns out and the idle is 4 turns out. Any recommendations on mixture / idle adjustment? Or does that sound like a throttle linkage problem?

 

hey i recently cleaned my carb with some spray cleaner cause my carb was a little dirty and boggish. it sounds clean now tooo clean i shift into first gear and let go of the throttle and the atv drives on its own i have to hold the clutch to slow down i thot it was the idle being to high but i turned it down as much as possible before it stalled and it stell had a high idle when i switched to 1st. i think its the throttle but i couldnt find a proper video showing me how to adjust it. can anyone send a video or try and explane it please

 

Try re installing the slide needle. If it doesn't return to lowest position or hangs up it will run wide open. Make sure you use the new needle.
