Garbage meaning it's not going to run right without repair. There are no know rebuild kits, so it is garbage to me. Bowl o-ring disintegrated and actually part of it was broken off inside and blocking ports. Trust me, I hate buying new parts and would always try and repair the original, but these chinese pieces are not made to last.

Example, I can still buy carb rebuild kits for my 1979 Honda Odyssey, but can't even find a kit for a 2005 Baja.

Ended up buying a Carb rebuild kit for a Joyner 250 Viper. I have this buggy and the carb is very similar. I was able to use the o-ring and float plunger from the kit. Seems like it sealed very nicely. Raining cats and dogs tonight in San Diego, so will give it a try tomorrow if the rain let's up.

Kit was a little pricey at $34.95 shipped, but if this works, it's better than buying a new one at $100.

I figured out my issue. After running the engine, I could hear the fluttering of the carb slide. I used my hand over the intake to give it some back-pressure and it started to run better. I forgot it needs the air filter connected to create back-pressure on these type of carbs. The previous owner broke off the tube from the carb to air box. Not sure if I can McGyver one or I might just get a Uni Filter and be done with it.

Carb to filter opening is 2", for my records.

Ive got a UNI Pod filter on all of my Chinese and smaller Honda 4 strokes.. If you need water protection you can sometimes make a cover out of a small coffee can..

Yeah. Ended up buying some 1-1/2 black pvc pipe from Home Depot and a 2" Rubber Coupler as well. They really designed this Quad terrible as their is part of the frame right in the lower are of the Carb intake path.

I bought a Uni Filter off ebay with 15 degree bend.

UNI FILTER UP-4200AST UNI DUAL STAGE POD FILTER, 15 DEGREE ANGLE 2X3 1/2"X4 $15.78 shipped

That sounds good..

There is really very little design going on with these things.. Most "factories" buy components from the lowest bidder and are constantly looking for a lower bid.. Thats one of the reasons replacement parts are such a pita to find.. The "factory" that made the quad doesnt even know what parts they used when they built the quad.
