Default Roketa gy6 tranny question

Just traded for this very nice Roketa 150cc quad. Previous owner said after about a day or so riding it when new,it started popping in fwd gear. they put it up.I have it now and it runs fine in reverse but if you put it in fwd,it pops like mad but u can push the gear lever all the way fwd and it seems to engage the fwd gear better but will still pop the gear. I watched as my son drove it slowly and u see the rod bounce in and out in fwd while its popping.
Is the rod itself worn or the internal gear needs fixing?
How big of a job is it to take apart and rebuild?
here is the rod circled in yellow

My Jetmoto 150 had its reverse in the rear end.. nothing like what you have. Does it engage fwd when its slides to the right? (into the cases) If so I might try wedging a piece of wood in between the lever and the case when its in fwd.. Id drive slowly forward and listen/watch for binding. I would guess what ever holds that shaft in fwd position inside the cases is worn or bent a little.

here is my shift lever in fwd.If I try to take off with it like that, the popping is bad and really doesn't go.The pin looks to be in the case but if take my knee and force the lever fwd a tad more, the pin in the case will go deeper. The atv will then move but pops. Im thinking the gears are rounded off etc.
In reverse is fine though.

I there any adjustment in between that arm and the gear box? So it would let that pin drop farther into the case.

I bet this is the same issue I had with my 06 Joyner Buggy. Mine has a CFMoto 250 and it ended up being the gears inside the gearcase were bad. If your shift lever is hi-lo and neutral. Most likely the PO tried to shift it while running (buggy moving forward) and it strips the gears. Not a fun job to do as I must disassembled and reassembled my case at least 5 times before i got it right. Plus you'll need to source the gears themselves, which may be a pain.

Look at this thread where I posted my pics.

That looks real easy to work on. I would pull it and open it up. Verify your gears are ok.
