Hi guys, helping a neighbor with is quad. Hes got a 2007? FYM Xtreme with an 86cc motor which I assume is a 90? I cant find much info on this quad and looks to be out of production already? I cleaned the carb for him but seems to only want to run with the choke on. When the choke is off the idle fluctuates and eventually dies. I am assuming it has an air leak but I cant find it. anyone have any knowledge of these? The plastic spacer between the carb and manifold broke around one of the bolt holes but is no where near the center port so I dont think thats an issue. I can put a thin layer of Hondabond or Yamabond on there to give some extra seal if needed but again, I doubt this is the issue. Anyone know of a Japanese direct replacement motor for this quad? yamaha or Honda 90cc motor? what about the Lifan motors?

 

If it runs on choke, the pilot jet or path is clogged. It is the longer of the two jets.

 

cleaning the carb was the very first thing I did. Its spotless. I've cleaned many carbs.

Yesterday we pulled the side covers off and ran it and I sprayed starting fluid all over and found no leaks. I'm lost.

 

I'm just telling you how the carb works. Pilot is idle to 1/4 throttle. Main is 1/4 to full throttle.

If it runs "on" choke then the Pilot Jet or the hole it screws into is clogged. I too have cleaned many carbs and it doesn't mean it didn't get fully cleaned or re-clogged by the fuel.
