Kill Switch Working in Reverse
#1
Hi All,
I've been given a 125cc Chinese ATV, with no wiring whatsoever. I purchased the generic wiring loom that's readily available, wired it all up as it should be but for some reason it won't crank.
The only way it cranks, is if i plug the emergency kill switch into either the front & rear safety switches (i don't have a foot brake or front brakes, only the switch on master brake cylinder) BUT once i do that, it will crank regardless of the handle bar switch being on or off and the emergency kill switch button needs to be pushed in. My assumption is due to the brake switches not being closed?
I should note, i don't care for the safety switches, so if removing them is an option, that's cool.
Any info would be great.

"for some reason it won't crank."
Don't use this term, it literally means the engine can't be turned by the starter, but many use it wrongly for meaning the engine won't fire, and anyone reading your post can't tell which you mean.

correct, it won’t crank in the first scenario.

You have done it again, why not just write "the starter doesn't work". Anyway, there is something wrong with the wiring, did you get a diagram with the new harness? If you did post it on here so we can try to work out where either the harness or your connecting of it has gone wrong. One point to check, some bikes are wired start button to ignition switch, some start button to earth, check you have it wired right for the new harness.

Not sure what you mean by a emergency kill switch on the bars? Never seen a emergency kill switch on the bars other than a tether. It will still turn over regardless of the position of the handlebar switch. It will just get no spark
