SunL Information Needed
#1
Hello,
We have a sixteen year old boy in our neighborhood who bought a non-running atv about a week ago. It seems to be my responsibility to make it go again.
From the information I've gathered it appears to be either a 150 or 200 cc SunL Rapidity, engine number DJ164FML, VIN number L5CAELLC36000509. Can anyone decipher either of these, or give me a link to where I can find the information?
At the present I'm looking for the reason there is no spark. It has a 6 pin CDI and I plan to run the test series provided by Lynn Edwards tomorrow, thank you very much sir.
Is there a service manual available for this machine?
Thanks a bunch,
Steve D

if you're following Lynn's advice, you'll get there quick. first thing i'd try is a new spark plug then start checking the quick connects in/out of the stator, CDI, Regulator, coil. but really, the very first place i'd check is the kill switches on the left handlebar slider switch and then the one at the key. those are the usual suspects.

I seem to remember reading that if I disconnect the kill switch at the CDI it will eliminate that possibility. Is this correct, and will the machine start with this disconnected if that is the problem?
Thanks,
Steve D

First, I'm sorry I misspelled your name, Jaster, in my last post.
I unplugged the kill switch, but the engine still wouldn't start. Then I used used Lynn's test sequence to determine that the CDI was AC. While doing this I noticed there was only one ground wire going to the 4 pin plug where Lynn shows two. It was adjacent to the ignition coil pin. Do I need to add a ground adjacent to the ignition trigger pulse pin? I didn't notice any loose ground wires hanging from the harness.
Thanks,
Steve D

Start a new thread, jumping into a 5 year old one about something totally different is just annoying.
Put some photos of it up, clear side views, and clear ones of the engine. Find engine number and VIN numbers if you can.
