TAO DB14 wont start/no spark
#1
I have a DB14 (dirt bike) that wont start. It has no spark and fuel is fine. I tested the kill switch at the CDI and it is fine. I have a 5 wire stator but it only uses 3 wires. This bike has no battery. Colors of the wires are green, black/red and blue/white. The CDI has five wires. Top l-r is white/blue empty middle and black/yellow. Bottom r-l is green, black/red and blue/white. I cant find anything on testing the stator or CDI for one without a battery. I have meters and know how to use them. I just need a little info to test.

Usual (though not universal) wiring colours for Honda/Chinese stuff are green = earth, red/black = exciter coil and blue/white - trigger coil. A black/white is used from CDI to kill switch and a blue/yellow goes to HT coil. Most Chinese bikes use a 5 or 6 wire AC CDI, the 6th wire is often another earth, but not all CDIs use the same pin-out. It is more difficult to test the exciter and trigger coils without a starter, as the bike needs to be spinning over when testing for AC voltages from those coils. Do the tests in the "help diagnose stator" sticky at the top of this section.

Thanks! I found the test form in the "sticky". I have a bad AC generating side. I have an idea for having to spin it over if I need to next time. Take the cover off and use a battery drill to spin the engine with the spark plug out to act like the starter
