I'm new to the forum. Apologies if this has already been answered (I searched but didn't find an exact match)...
I've replaced the Chinese 110cc motor in my grandson's OIYE 3050c (it's like a miniature ATV with super small wheels) but I haven't yet reconnected the battery because the colors of the wiring out of the stator on the new motor are just slightly different than the old harness.
As shown in this photo, 3 of the colors match exactly:
- Black with red stripe
- Green
- Blue with white stripe
But the new motor has 2 yellow wires whereas the old harness (and old motor) had 1 yellow and 1 white wire:
(see red arrows)
Questions:
- I've arbitrarily connected one of the yellow stator wires to the yellow wire in the harness, and one of the other yellow wires from the stator to the white wire in the harness. If I've chosen the wrong yellow wire, am I risking any damage when I connect the battery and try to crank? If not, then obviously I can just switch the yellow-to-white combo if the motor doesn't run, and (hopefully) be done.
- Is there a way to determine which yellow wire should be connected to the white wire? I can use a multimeter and such.
I've had several wiring harnesses like that and just connected one yellow to white and one to yellow like you have it now and never had a problem. Both run into the regulator. One runs the lights and one charges the battery. I've seen different wiring arrangements into the plug for the regulator, so I'm assuming it doesn't matter which yellow goes where.
Hello. I know this is over a year old. I have same exact situation. Did it matter after all, or was there a conclusion to this question..i seee last reply says it does not matter. Just double checking. Thanks

Hi,
OP here. I chose one of the yellow wires arbitrarily and it has been working fine.
Good luck.
Oh, good. Thank you. Last question, are those molex connections you made? Would you have a name for the little joint connections used to connect new and old wires?
