High revving then dying
hey guys,
Finally got back to work on this little quad. i figured out all the wiring issues i had and got it to turn over...next G&% D@#% problem is it wont start without he choke full open, then when i try to close it it revvs through the roof and dies !...ive checked and everything is tight and i can't see any reasonable way there could be air leaks. its a new carb ( PZ 22) and a new throttle cable,,,,really need some help on this one

Firstly, if it starts OK with the choke open, why would you want to close it? My guess would be the carb is set well out, regarding mixture, possibly on both main and slow running jets. Aftermarket carbs fit a wide variety of different engines but need setting up for your particular example. Also possible that anti-corrosion coatings or other debris could be in the carb, though this would tend to give a weak mixture, rather than the rich one you have.
