Default Eton 50 cranking issues

Long time creeper, first time poster!

My daughter’s Eton 50 was having issues turning over and starting. The starter was having difficulty cranking the engine and would become very hot. So I purchased a new starter and installed it.

With the new starter I was having the same issue. I took out the spark plug and the starter had no issue turning the engine over. Oil and gas comes out of the spark plug hole when attempting to start.

I do have good spark, I checked that when the spark plug was out.

I put the spark plug back into the engine and it returns to having issues turning over.

I am at a loss of where to go next.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The most likely causes of a slow running starter are a flat or faulty battery or bad connections on the thick wires, from battery to solenoid, to starter and the earths.

You don't normally see much vapour coming from the plug hole though. Suzuki LT80s are notorious for the carb flooding and filling the crankcase with fuel, this hydraulicly locks the engine until you take the plug out, so a lot of fuel coming from the plug hole could indicate this being a problem with yours.
