Newby neading Carb repair kit for a PD33J
#1
Hi please help, I have a late life crisis and have bought a 2nd hand HSUN 400ATV. I live in the hills on a dirt track in Spain. Always envied the crazy bikes going past kicking up the dust so decided to join them. So far, it has spent more time in bits than up in the hills. Most things I have sorted by reading the posts here, what a lifesaver you guys are.
One last problem the carburettor, I have worked out it is a Kinzo PD33J apparently sold by the millions, except I cannot find any repair kits, only new carbs at 200dollars with 60dollars to send to Spain. The management in our house said “walk it’s cheaper” but that won’t raise any dust in the trails.
Please help any information about the PD33J kits would really help I have cleaned it but would like to refurbish it properly.

As long as nothing is damaged a good cleaning and checking the float height is all thats really needed... I got no clue as to where you would find a rebuild kit. maybe a good/better used carb on ebay?

Hi,
Have spent the whole day surfing for a carb kit to fit and the only info I can find is the carb was also used on a Baja Wilderness Trail 400 (WD400) ATV. I am coming round to the feeling it might be better to buy a new one, but a bit crazy just for the rubber seals and needles etc.
If I were to buy a new one how/what do you measure. Would the mountings match a different carb, are these things standard ?
Sorry for all the questions but I have fuel backing up to the air filter box via a breather hose on the cylinder. Also have now noticed fuel coming out of an air pipe, on the mounting between the carb to cylinder( I think it terminates on a black plastic secondary filter, something to do with the exhaust, by the front wheel, but it was just hanging) was hoping it was the carb and easily fixed and nothing else.

ian, have you pulled the jets out of the carburetor? when you cleaned the carb, did you pull the float assembly out and clean the needle seat and verify proper operation?
as Lynn said, check your crankcase oil for gasoline contamination. if it smells like gasoline, change the oil, your float stuck open which is why you need to tear the carb apart again.
your jets will look similiar to this one. pull them out, clean the little orifices you see and clean them out longways, you should should see daylight through all orifices and down the throat of the jets longways.
here's a video hyperlink below to help you out. mind you, the carb in the video may not be your exact carb, but the concept of carb cleaning is the same.
