Default Small Questions Thread

Well.. I've got a small question and I figured a thread like this might be a good idea to keep the small things bunched up.

So Ask away.

But I'll go first.

Would anyone happen to know where the engine RPM wire for a digital speedometer is connected and how it works?
I'm going to be making my own speedometer/odometer/tachometer since the stock one burned out a while ago and I'm not exactly up to paying 80€ for a stock new one.

I've got most of it figured out including a way to get the RPM reading, but since the stock loom is still in place I figured it'd be easier to just use up what I can from that.

No clue, but the aftermarket hourmeter/tach style just uses a wire wrapped around the spark plug cable. What make and model do you have, maybe someone has a wiring diagram for yours.

No idea on the model..

I'd do the coil around the spark plug thing if I wanted to DIY it completely, but since stock loom is in place I figured I could just use that.

I can figure it out on my own fairly easily, I'll just hook up my oscilloscope and try out every pin until I get a signal that varies as I rev the engine.
Then I'll go with that.

The wire from the trigger coil in the stator fires once a rev and the wire from the CDI to the coil sends an amplified signal.
