Can you buy CV boot bands separately?
#1
I just changed my outer front boot on my Yamaha but to slide it on you have to take the inner boot and CV off. Well the boot kit only supplied two bands for the new outer boot and the old large inner boot band broke when reinstalling it.
Don't really want to buy another boot kit over one band.

Got lucky Yamaha does sell them separately. $12 for one band ! but they had me where they wanted me. The Boot kit was $45 Canadian. Would of been cheaper online but I was in a rush.

Wasn't sure how soon you needed them.
I sometimes think the dealers have some type of device that can detect whether you're wanting something right then, or can wait.

you can get bands at any automotive store for 1/2 that price. you can also use heavy duty zip ties or pipe clamps. I used pipe clamps on a old king quad. held great and was way easier to get tight that the clamps

I though of the hose clamp but I notice a groove the band is suppose to fit in both the rubber boot and CV housing. the band was 2.5" and in hose clamps they are to wide to sit in the narrow grove.
Maybe the hose clamps would be tight enough to not need the grove at all , but yes that was my plan B.

Tie wraps don't work too well, I've come across bikes with them round the boot and it is always a bit loose, not enough to drop off, but a film of grease round the lip betrays they are leaking slightly.

You can't use teh ones you get from walmart or auto shop. These ones are usually only available at big rig or industrial supply place. Then you can get pliers on them to tighten up. Guarantee these ones will let nothing in or out
