Default 2006 Buyang Panther FA-E110: Is it worth the effort?

Hi all,

Brand new to the forums. We bought our house and the previous owner did not want the little quad sitting in the shed. Its obviously seen better days. I'm going to attempt to check the compression on it to see if the motor is good. If it is, I'm going to go ahead and purchase the following items new and try to have it up and running for my boys. I'm not a wiz at small engine repair, but I'm also handy enough to replace a lot of what looks like it needs replacing. Here's what I'm planning on getting:

-
Carb Carb
-Wiring Harness (CDI, Ignition Coil w/ lead, Solenoid, Rectrifier, Ignition switch, Magneto Stator). Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Spam wordSpam word Note: The handlebar mounted cluster for starter/turn signals/hi/low beam on my Panther 110 looks just like the one of amazon made for a 150cc. Can I use this 150cc wiring harness for my 110cc Panther? It has the exact style handlebar cluster. The 110cc kit does not have the option for left/right turn signals.

-Shocks (front and rear)

A few questions for you all:

1.) Does anyone know what the compression should be on a 2006 Buyang FA-E110?
2.) Is this in fact a 4-stroke? (no pre-mix needed? didn't see an oil reservoir though)
3.) Wiring Harness: Can I use this harness stated to work for a 150cc on Amazon? Note: my Buyang Panther 110cc has the identical handlebar cluster that is included in the 150cc wiring harness kit in the link above.

thanks for any info!

best regards,
Nick

Do not replace anything until you find out if it is OK. Fit a good battery, then if the starter doesn't spin when you press the start button, find out why. Could be solenoid, start button, ignition switch or wiring. Once you get the starter working, check for a spark, if you get one, see if it starts. Try cleaning the carb out if it doesn't, this is far easier than getting a new carb set up properly. It is a four stroke by the way, a copy of a Honda Cub engine.

Thanks. I'm in the process of doing this now. The carb was so corroded/crusted up on the inside that I couldn't come close to getting it clean. Gonna have to at least purchase a new carb.

Any tips on which one to purchase? Seems a lot of carbs sold have a slightly different top cap where the throttle cable runs through. Apparently a lot of issues with throttle cable lenght with a new carb.
UPDATE: New battery installed. Nothing. So many wires have been cut/spliced by a previous owner. I really need a wiring diagram for this thing to figure out where to start.
