Default 2005 roketa 150cc no spark

I just bought this quad from what I was told it had say for 6 years it didn’t have a cdi on it when I bought it so I ordered a new one put it on and still nothing. Using a test light to check for power (ordering a meter after reading multiple other posts on here lol) I also noticed that with test light hooked to ground side of battery the light lights up anywhere I touch it on the quad. I’m not very good with the electrical part of anything but it sounds like a bad ground some where but I do not see any grounds except for the one by the starter I have no idea where to go from here any help would be appreciated thanks love in advance also my cdi has one 4 pin plug and one 2 pin plug from pictures I have seen on here the kill switch wire is missing on the 2 pin plug

Follow the thick wire(s) from the negative battery post and see where they end up. There should be one to engine and one to frame. On some there is a separate thick wire that just goes from engine to frame.

Regarding the kill wire. Do you have an exciter coil wire (usually black/red) going from alternator to CDI as there just seems to be a black going into CDI. This could mean you have DC ignition and wouldn't have a kill wire. The black would provide pos from ignition switch, so cuts power to it when switched off.

So black ground goes to engine don’t see a chassis ground anywhere and no black and red wire coming from stator

Fit a thick wire from engine to frame to ensure you have a good earth.

The CDI needs power form somewhere, ether AC from a stator coil or DC from ignition, only wire power can come from is the black in the picture, trace it. My guess would be it comes from either ignition switch or kill switch, meaning DC ignition, so you would need a DC CDI.

Default Help

Hey any way you could post a full picture of they quad, I'm trying to identify the make and model of the 2005 something I bought my daughter and I'm rebuilding. I think it's this cause the plastics look similar.
