boreem 220cc has no spark
I have a boreem 200cc it has no spark. tried a different spark plug still no spark there is no spark coming through the spark plug wire. There are two wires on the coil. Is there suppose to be power there, with a test light I can't get it to light up.
Need help
Thanks in advance, Dennis

The "power" at the ignition coil primary (input) side is a high frequency high voltage waveform at about 200 volts peak with most of the energy in the tens of kilohertz range. A 12 volt DC test light is of no use here. In fact on all most all quads a 12 volt test light can't be used for anything since the entire ignition system runs off its own power which is AC and at a much higher voltage. The output side of the ignition coil (to the spark plug) is 20,000 volts or more.
To get spark you need to have the stator providing ignition power to the CDI, a timing pulse from another winding on the stator to the CDI, and the kill switches cannot be grounded. And of course the CDI and ignition coil must be good.
Since the kill switch connection goes to multiple places on the typical quad that is the first place to start. Use an ohmmeter to measure the kill switch wire to engine ground. Do this while the engine is stopped (it will have high voltage on it while cranking or running). You should *not* see a short to ground. While you're at it. Measure the DC and AC voltages on this line while cranking and report what you measure. Also, how many connectors on your CDI, and how many pins on each connector (if more than one connector)?

Hi Lynn
I've got a similar problem on my Hammer Twister 250 - was going fine then suddenly erratic starting then now nothing. Checked spark - nothing. Will do as you suggest and check kill switch. If is the coil then any ideas on where to find relacement - are these honda parts perhaps.
Do the relays sometimes go?
any help greatfully received - Chris in London

Chris,
Please see my replay in the the other post you put up:
"Hammer Twister 250 electrics problem"
Not sure what you mean by relay? Starter solenoid? If the engine turns over with the starter than this is not your problem.
