Rear tires or exhaust for 1st warrior upgrade?
#1
I'm a fairly new rider but ride with very experienced friends (they suckered me in). I find myself feeling a bit inadaquete on my '03 stock Warrior and would like to make some changes. My friends ride a stock Raptor and a stock Honda 400EX to let you know how far I'd like to change my bike. Even though Im still somewhat of a beginner as far as time in the seat I have been pushed fairly hard by my friends... we ride mainly in 3 places... heavily wooded trails; a washed out area with small plateaus (made of that great Oklahoma red dirt) great for jumping; and lastly down by the river on the washed out bank which has lots of steep climbs, boggy areas, small jumps and wide open spots all on sand.
I'd like to do a complete aftermarket exhaust including new air filter kit and jets. I've seen several people post here that the warrior is in real need of aftermarket rear tires as well and that it can make a good difference. I've kind of been looking at the Maxxis all-traks.
Unfortunately I'm not sure if I can afford to do all of that at once... so what would be the most noticeable change? exhaust/jets/airfilter or new rear tires?
On the tires... I noticed that Maxxis has several sizes to choose from (none of which match the factory specs on the tires). Why would you choose one size over another? Basically if I decide to get the tires I don't want to make a blind choice and end up with tires that aren't designed for what I need.
On the exhaust... I noticed that some kits include the head pipe and silencer whereas others are what seems to just be the silencer (I could be wrong but they don't mention it). If I buy a silencer (been looking at the Pro Circuit T-4) should the stock head pipe be replaced? or do you definitely want to change it?
Looking for all opinions even on the brands/models I mentioned.

First off I'd get the 22x11x9 maxxis all track tires. My Warrior wears them and at $47 each from rockymountainatv they were the best investment. Next I'd buy a steering stabilizer, my Warrior has the PEP and it's great. You can open up your airbox a bit and rejet it will give you some improvement and wont cost more than a couple bucks. I've spent alot of cash on my old Warrior and even tho it cant compete with my Rappy I dont regret buying the stuff for the old Warrior. I've spent alot of time and money on the old Warrior and if you're interested in the mods and how they came out PM me, I'll be more than happy to share the ups and downs of it.
