I just picked up a set and the steel looks like it might be more prone to bending than aluminum would be. anyone have steel nerf bars? probs with rust, bending, etc.? they were 35 bucks cheaper than alum.

also, the finish isn't all that good. anyone have similar problems?

Did you buy the mild steel chromed nerfs, or the dull finish T-6 aluminum version? I just recently got the T-6's for my 400EX, cause I knew I'd tear up a chromed set where I typically ride, but a friend of mine has the T-6's and they have held up well in a few crashes he's had. Also, the T-6's polish up well too...just pick up some mag wheel aluminum polish at an auto parts store.
