Default looking for quick help on a tm 45 mm carb

Hello all,

I just installed the tm 45 mm carb and I have a problem. There appears to be a vent fitting on the upper right side of the carb in front, but there does not seem to be a vent tube anywhere that would fit in that position. The instructions call out 2 vent tubes to run to the rear and down, but there seems to be a third on this carb, with no info on it. Can anyone please help, im in a bind.

Gary

If it faces towards the intake/head(straight foreward), then it needs to be capped. Its a vac source. Prolly why you are running lean....

is the choke just above this vent? I checked mine out and it is blocked off with a rubber cap.

Actually, there is two on the front of the carb. Both should be capped(the lower one prolly is already, the top is prolly the one that is'nt).

Got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks a million guys, the project is coming together.
Race Cams, tm45 carb, titanium valve springs, ported head, high compression piston, 60% clutch springs, Alba race pipe, and some good old 104 octane go go juice.

What kinda compression ya running? My head is being ported as i type(well, maybe not right this minute!). He is starting on it tomorrow. I have hopes of a GOOD hp gain with this head. The fella porting it works for the IRL(Indy Racing League) and he ports and flows heads for a living. His shop(the shop he works for, that is. He ported the head) built the motor that won the 1998 Indy 500. We shall see....

Hey guys,

The head was done by Alba. They really opened up the exhaust and intake and polished. I forgot to mention, I also have the RW cdi box. The piston is a 11.5:1. I thought I would start with this one for now. Next winter project is the dual carb set up along with the big bore kit and oversized valve job with the 13:1 piston. I think my arms will end up 2 inches longer. Im heading to Silver Lake in Michigan this comming weekend, so Im hoping to get onto a dyno before I go.

Thanks again for all the help, thank god for this forum,

DStroyer
