96 xplorer 400, leaking gas
#1
Hi, I just notice that my xplorer is leaking gas onto the floor, looks like it's coming from somewhere underneath....I had this happen about 3 years ago, I think it was the needle valve and the seat? how hard is it to change? thanks

You might want to doublecheck that leak. My 400 has developed gas leaks twice now. Seems the drain bolt at very bottom of the carb bowl rubs on a rubber support piece thats under the carb. It wore a small hole in the drain bolt and started leaking gas. A little JB Weld patched the hole for about a year and then it wore thru the JB Weld and started leaking again. I just patch it every year now.
But if your problem did turn out to be the needle and seat it's no big deal to replace as long as you know how to work a screwdriver.
Just make sure you don't alter the float level. You might want to clean the rods that the floats slide on while you're in there too cause they get gummed up sometimes and cause the float to stick on you.
