Getting a Recon

I am thinking about getting a Recon. Are they reliable? Any tips, tricks, etc. are also greatly
appreciated. Thanks.

The Recon is an excellent machine for the price. My 14 year old son has rolled ours 3 times and zero damage to quad or him (Lucky). I think you can get a 2WD manual shift Rancher for about 500 bucks more. I would probably go with that though if I was to buy again.

The Recon is the best entry level ATV out there. If you took the stickers off of it at a swamp or a mud bud you would think that the quad was a 4x4. Its amazing in the muck. Get the Recon.

I have a RancherES 4x4 and 2 1999 Recons my son is 18 and about 180lbs. when riding with me and a pal on a Sportsman 500 he holds his own. I'm real pleased with everything about the Recon. I also let my 12yr. old ride one she handles it fine also , though I watch her real close as it has enough power to get her in trouble. When I get a chance to go riding alone without the boy I always take the Recon insted of the Rancher 4x4 as it is much more fun and manuvers better through the tight trails. I haven;t ridden a Rancher 2wd but I would bet they too are more fun than a 4x4. Hope this helps you out. You can save a bunch buying a used ones as I did. I got 2 1999s for $$5000.00 they looked real nice and run great. You can't miss if it say's Honda!!!
