high lifter kit
#1
Since I have added a winch and bumper my sp500 seems to droop a little in the front. I notice that High Lifter lists a kit for under $100 for the sp500. Has any one tried this kit and what does it consist of. If their is any special tools needed to install it I would like that info also. gardner10

The front lift kit is nothing but a pipe-like spacer that goes under the springs, and one of the same height that goes under the strut. The special tools needed would be somthing the compress the springs.
I think the heavy duty front springs from Polaris would suit you better though.

Hi, Two other possibilities, Well, The polaris shop finally put on my progressive lift heavy duty
front springs. They only charged my 48 bucks, so I
was not upset with that price. They consist of 2 heavy duty springs and 2 cams. My 26 inch mud bug tires, no longer rub on the plastics. That was the goal I wanted accomplished. So they work. I have them cranked up about 1 inch. as they adjust upward they also put more pressure on the springs.
So I see 2 choices you have. 1. Find where you can
buy just the cams with out the springs and save that money. It is logical to me that those cams could be put on with your original polaris springs
right. I bought the whole kit at high lifter. You could talk to them or some other company about what you want. 2. Just by the whole kit. I paid 159 dollars for the 2 cams and 2 heavy duty springs. I have them cranked up 1 inch and the front is now 1 inch higher and very stiff. The draw back is that my atv is B U M P Y - R I D I N G !!! oh well. It actually got bumpier when I bought those 26 inch mud bug tires so the springs are not all to blame.

Yes, I do like them. The front is very firm now. Tires dont rub plastics any more. I would buy them again. Jaimie, mentioned a while back, that why not just buy the cams and use them with the factory springs. Just looking at them on my quad, It sure looks that that would be the way to go.
If any one in minnesota or close by needs polaris
factory springs, I would sell them for a low price. Only 480 miles on them. Also, if any one has ripped up factory mud skirts for gen IV polaris atv's, I would sell my set cheap also. I bought and put on extended mud skirts about 3 weeks ago after I got my mud bug tires.

My 2-cents, I would say that with the progressive lift for the front, the added stress is almost none. Very little, because the cams are right under the springs and thus part of the same set up. I talked with High lifter once about an actual lift kit. The way he put it to me. Just a made up example: if your front end's tie-rod ends and joints were made to last for 5 years. the added stress of a lift kit would be that they would last
4 years instead of 5. So the lift kit does put extra stress on the front end. rangerchet

A budy of mine has a set of 27" Vamps, really one mean muddin machine. He has trouble with tire rub so he installed Polaris heavy duty springs but still rubs. I had asked him about hi-lifter kit and his dealer told him it would wear out his cv joints. If this is true I sure would like to know.

To Sparke, Maybe your friend needs those progressive lift cams that I had put on. They will
raise up the front about 1.5 inches maximum and that might do it. Just the heavy duty springs alone was apparently not enough.
To Sportsmam, If you have a sp 500 and your going to 26 inch mudrunners, I know you dont need mods, because I know that Jaimie's 2 yellow sp's have 26 in M.R. tires and they dont rub.If your going to 27 inch then maybe? not sure?
