I know that this tire comes stock on some Polaris models. My question is how do you like the tire? How is it in mud?

My Recon has 22" tires in the rear, I wan't a little more ground clearance. Titan 489's come in a 23".

 

Do not waste $ on the 489. BUy a Bearclaw, ITP Spider Track or Blackwater because they are 4-Ply. The 489 is a 2-ply tire and not priced much below the 4-ply tires. .

 

I purchased 25" Bearclaws and like the tires. I no longer get stuck on the river runs down the San Jacinto river. BIG difference in the stock tires! I ride in very similar terrain a few miles to the south of you (Conroe, Tx).
Chaparral Racing (Add in Dirt Wheels back cover) was by FAR the cheapest place to buy the Bearclaws. ! $116 delivered to the door for a pair of 25X12X10s.
Discount tire was the cheapest place to get the tires mounted.
Super swampers and ITP Blackwaters & Spider Tracks (they recently bought the molds from Dick Cepeck) are also nice tires and are worth considering.

1993 Trail Boss 250 - with Bearclaws

 

A friend has a Kawasaki Praire 300 2 wheel drive and he put Woolly Boggers on his and WOW! made a huge! difference, mud holes he could not even begin to go through, he goes right through. Spring for the better tire, you won't be much better off, if any with just going an inch taller with a stock tire like the Titan 489.

 

I like mine but they are only 2 ply and I've had to plug mine once. I've heard the All Traks are
pretty good. For mudding with a 2 wheel drive I would go to a 25" tire myself. Once you start dragging your frame the battle is half lost!
