hey i was wondering how much oil an 86 250r would hol i think its a little over a quart but im not sure i just got it its a ripper though!

 

Less than a quart in the gearcase. When I change my wife's oil, I buy the MTL fluid in a quart container. If I remember right, seems that there is usually about 8oz left over. Make sure the engine is level and remove the plug (10mm screw) from in front of where the clutch is on the sidecover. Just fill until oil starts coming out. Your done!

 

the oil check plug is a 10mm head, but its a 6mm bolt [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Your correct though, the tranny doesnt hold a quart

 

700cc, measure it out and pour it in. No need to use the bolt check method this way so it doesn't get stripped out.

 

easy superman, no reason to strip the bolt out unless you're cranking on it with the grip of death

 

the drain plug is a pain. i think ill try a vaccumm tank next time to avoid removing the drain plug altogether. i cant see anyone ever stripping the check bolt.
