Last weekend I was out on the Pawnee and I ran accros a body water that I have traversed in the past. The only thing different it seemed to have a little more water in the hole than usual. The month before I had no problems crossing this mosquito nursery, water even with pvt exhaust. This time about a third of the way through this 40 yard mud hole, the water got deep. All momentum was lost and the seat was underwater. The sportsman seemed to jump off the bottom and float for a bit touch bottom again and so on. Never had a problem with belt getting wet and slipping. I was wondering if anyone has seen a sportsman float and whats the deepest water crossing traversed?

I have a sp with 27X12X12 vamps with alum wheels and it is completely snorkeled. The front floats so well I have to get off or it will flip backwards. Once I am off the whole things floats. I have been in water over my head, 6Ft deep swimming next the atv with a hand on throttle to make sure it doesn't die from back pressure.

Bill, on this one I will believe you. The last thing I want to do is try to prove you right or wrong.
Does Polaris sell Sportsman water wings as an accessory?

I was present at the Duck Pond at Fun Wheeler Park, and witnessed gregsims cross the pond from end to end when the water was way up. It was well over five feet deep. At one point he had to start swimming. The light aluminum wheels and huge tires seem to help. The sp500 didn't have any trouble.

Have had my front end float freaked me out , i didnt think any amount of water could make my SP float, but it seemed that the front was floating up but not the rear. I have stock tires.

I DONT OWN A SPORTSMAN BUT I DO OWN A HEAVY 90 350L POLARIS WITH REAR BEAR CLAW TIRES AND STOCK FRONTS AND IN REALLY DEEP WATER IT WILL FLOAT WITH NO ONE ON IT, UNFORTUNATLY THE ENGINE IS USALLY FULL OF WATTER WHEN IT STARTS TO FLOAT (AT LEAST ITS EASY TO GET TO THE SHORE). BUT IF YOU WANT TO TOTALY AVOID THE WHOLE FLOATING THING YOU CAN TRY SKIMMING ACROSS THE TOP OF THE WATER, SIMPLY GET ENOUGH SPEED 55-70MPH SHOULD DO THE TRICK, THROW YOUR WEIGHT BACK WHEN YOU HIT THE EDGE OF THE WATER, TURING ON THE 4x4 also helps because the front tires dont usally turn.I'VE DONE THIS MANY TIMES ON MY QUAD AND I CAN ONLY GO ABOUT 20-30 FEET BEFORE I SINK. ITS A BLAST AND I RECOMED GIVING IT A TRY
