I am going to put a manual oil pressure guage on my Ds and was wondering if I replace the crappy electronic sensor with the fitting for the manual guage will the red light stay on all the time? What I am trying to get at will the little red light still tell me if my engine ever overheats if I put a manual guage in?

No it will not stay on. If you unplug the sensor the light stays out. The light should work for the engine temp.
