Default running a bike in the cold...

i just went for a ride and i noticed that my headers glow red a little. i read that the cold weather (about -18c , or 0f here now) can make it run lean. now i have to determine what circuit ( idle, pilot, needle or main) is running lean? my machine starts easy and idles very good and does not backfire when i let off the throttle, so i think it not a lean idle . i wasn't running full throttle at any time tonight so i am thinking it is the pilot or needle? to make a pilot richer, i put in a bigger pilot and to make the needle richer i move to a different clip position?

To make the needle richer you lower the clip, thus raising the needle. To make the pilot richer get a bigger pilot, but you may want to check the pilot screw first. Do a search on this forum, there are some old post that explain how to adjust the pilot circuit.
