oil on belt, 600 Grizz
#5
It's not likely that the bearing is bad unless there are a lot of miles on the quad. Try moving the shaft up and down a little, there should be virtually no free play in the shaft. If it is the seal, it usually means splitting the engine cases to get it out and a new one in place. The only saving grace may be a seal carrier that is bolted onto the crankcase. If the 600 has one of those, it's not a big job.

Thanks chilly. I post a Yamaha question and only a Honda answers?
Well heres what we found. The seal was leaking bad (spraying oil all over). The guy apparently hasn't changed his oil in 2 years and the float needle in the carb wasn't seating properly so it was flooding the engine with gas. This eventually worked into the crankcase and thinned the oil, not to mention raising the level of the oil. When we drained the oil it was the ugliest oil I've seen in my life, Ohio river green.
We cleaned er out and sanded the belt. when she was back together the belt slipped bad for about 3 mins then started to grab then took off, wow!
