Problems with Swisher Plow on Rubicon
#1
Has anyone put a swisher plow on a Rubicon? I am having a problem with the brackets that are mounted on the lower A-arms moving and then gouging the inside of my rims when I turn tight. I have tightened the brackets very tight but they still move. Is there something I am missing? Where should the brackets be mounted on the A-arm?
I am seriously considering taking this plow back and getting a moose. What has kept me from doing that already is that I like the idea behind the mounting system and the quality of the plow.
Any help that anyone can give would be great!

I just put a swisher plow on my 2002 Foreman S. I have only used it a few times, and checked the front mounts for rubbing or coming loose after my first plowing. But after reading your post, I think I'll go check again. Aren't the Foreman and Rubicon almost alike? You've got a 500cc? I imagine the A arms are very similar, but I'm not sure. Did you use the "U" shaped adapters, and follow the Honda specific instruction on the (less than detailed)instruction packet? If its hitting your rims on turns, can you loosen the leafs in the center and loosen the A arm mounts and then shift it inward a couple of inches to get more clearance from your rims?
I liked how the system and how sturdy the plow seemed to be, but I was (and still am) leary about any aftermarket accesory that comes with a "universal mounting system".
Let me know how things work out. You're the only other person I've seen that has mentioned a swisher plow.
Anybody else have one?

I hooked up the mount and used the U-shaped brackets just as the directions said, but they didn't help much. Yes I have the 500cc. I don't know how similar the A-arms are but I can't imagine they would be that different.
I tried moving the brackets toward the diff but they scraped my rims worse. They must be as close to the tire as possible so the rims will turn outside of them - if that makes any sense. I mounted them as low as they can be and then went out and plowed the 12" we just got yesterday here in MN. The brackets still moved, granted I dug in a couple of times and put the springs to work but that still shouldn't happen as far as I am concerned.
The plow worked great and I had no problem pushing the snow. I did see a Moose plow yesterday and I don't think they are anywhere close to being as sturdy as the Swisher - just wish they would come up with a mounting system as good as Moose. Their mounts for the Polaris look as though they would work great. If they made model specific mounts they might save money over sending out all of the hardware included to make a universal mount, I have about 10 lbs. of steel left over.
