Aaarggh!! LT80 petcock problem (still)
#1
I've taken the petcock apart twice.NO fuel flow in any of the 3 positions. I really think it's the diaphram isn't opening.can I just yank the guts outta that side?I'm using an inline shut-off valve, but first I need the fuel to flow through petcok. even if I have to drill a direct route, that's fine.
any suggestions??

I've heard of drilling holes in there.
I gutted one once.
I'd say,,,DO IT:: hehe,it isn't working now, surely can't hurt much.

Mine was giving me some fits too. I gave it a shot of air up the fuel line from the air compressor. It kind of made a burping noise in the tank, as to be expected. Since then it has worked just fine. Holds back flow until it gets a little vacuum. Might be worth a shot and it's free.

fishslab, does yours free-flow in prime position? On "res" is fuel supposed to free-flow, or do you need vacuum?I'll try the air; you're right, got nuthin to lose. I'll PM you about our trip and we can try to get a ride in. We're at Honeyman State Park from March 14-20 (leave on the 20th).

Yes it does free flow in prime now. It did not before the air trick. I think I hit it with air in the prime position. That caused the thing to flow like right now. Can't wait to meet and ride with you. I like Honeyman for camping and riding. Close to town, good restrooms with showers, and well maintained. They also have some good youth programs too.

I'm confused ( I guess my handle fits). i thought it needs vacuum (suction) to open up the diaphram to let fuel flow. Strange how giving it the opposite (blowing) would open it up. I'm gonna go to my shop in a few minutes and beat on it. amazing such a little device can make me so frustrated.

In prime it should bypass the diaphram. This allow the float bowl to fill so that the lt can start. I had a hunch the diaphram may have been vapor locked(if that's even posible). That's what gave me the idea to blow air through it.
