Default 04 Sportsman 500 Gettin' Hot

Hey Guys,

I just got my quad back in february so it has always been cold when riding. Well I rode the other day when it was around 75-80. My question is...the right side gets extremely hot. It is to the point that you cannot brush your leg up against it very long, and the plastic can almost be molded into a new shape if one wanted to do so. I see it has a metal heat protectant tape on the inside but it still is really hot. Is this normal and does everyone else have this same problem.

I've got the same unit as you down to the winch... The only time I have ever noticed it getting hot is when the fan is on. I can't say its hot enough to soften the plastic, but sometimes it is a little uncomfortable when that hot air is blowing on your right shin.

I rode my 04 Sportsman 500 yesterday and had on a pair of shorts, I also noticed it seemed to be extremely hot on my right ankle and calf. I had a 95 Explorer before this one and I don't remember it being hot like this one.
