You can leave it stock if you wish. You will loose a little top speed but not really noticable. If you have the money I suggest getting a clutch kit anyway. You will notice a huge difference. I can pull a wheelie whenever I take off even sitting in the middle of the seat. The backshifting on the secondary is very quick too. I have a HPD clutch kit from RCR on my machine. It contains different clutch weights, springs (primary and secondary) and a new helix for the secondary.

Rick sells HPD products also. I have his Stage 1 kit which is a pipe kit and a clutch kit package. We opted for the HPD agressive kit for the clutch. I am really happy with the setup he sent me. If you give him a call and tell him what kind of riding you do, he will set you up with everything you need. I have the RCR midrange pipe with the aluminum silencer and a Sparky. It is kind of loud though. I was sound tested at the dunes and it was at 97db. I even repacked the silencer as tight as I could before I went there.

It will be fine with out it if you are just looking to replace your old tires. I have 20-11-10 Shredders on mine. I was just thinking if you are looking to mod your machine a little more that would be a good investment.

Rick will set you up with whats best for your machine and riding, just let him know what you are looking to acheive and what kind of riding you do. I purchased a trail pipe (HPD) and clutch kit for my 400.
