Ok, I was told that you should be able to submerge a 600, without problems,in water as long as you don't get it into the air box. Any truth? I've been in some pretty deep stuff and not had any trouble.

 

yes, the clutch vent is just a little lower than the air intake. watch out for that because if you flood the clutch box, youre going to be in that water and mud for a while.

BTW in your signature the sportsman 600 and 700 arent V-Twins, they're parallel twins. just thought Id tell you

 

Be sure to check and change all of your fluids a lot more often if you do ride in a lot of water

 

With all the rain we had over the last couple of months I've found my machine can go thru well over 3' of water as long as I keep on the throttle and keep the front wheels up. By leaning back and keeping the front up your effectivly raising your vulnerable points like air intake and vent lines higher. On at least two occasions I crossed streams this year that were close to 4' deep, they were only 20' or so wide but what a blast!
