I was just wondering how good the 250R is on gas. I had a 87 Kawasaki Tecate 4 piped. That thing was bad on gas. I only could go about 25 miles and it would be on empty. What year is better and year looks better.

I don't know about the gas but I do know the year that you wanna get is 88 or 89 cause thats what the pro racers use well the engines anyways.

I don't know about the gas but in my opinion the '88-89's look better. Some one in here has pictures of an mint '86 if ya wanna see what that looks like and go to the honda webpage and go to classics, they have a mint '89 I think.

I've got 2 Honda 250R's (just sold my one two weeks ago or I'd have 3. They are pretty lousy on gas mileage. The two that I have now are highly modified, but the one I just sold was fairly stock, and they all sucked when it came to gas mileage. Had a Quadracer a few years back & it was the same. 2 strokes are not gas misers. See ya!

My stock one likes gas lot's of it. 13 miles to the tank when playing hard.7 to 10 gal. a day when riding on the rightaways. 86 and 87 bike's are longer and climb hills better than the 88 and 89's. 87's an early 88's had the clutch push rod problems you fixed them with the 86 push rod's.

My 250r has a FMF pipe and silencer is ported has boyesen reeds and a 152 main jet.It sucks gas like riude for 2 hours on a full tank your empty. My 86 has never had clutch probs. We just replaced all the clutch components except the basket, and the piece that gets pushed out this winter. We put stock plates but hinson springs makes the clutch real hard to pull.
