We run a 19/35 gears in the little mans Arctic Cat 50. I chose the 35 rear for a good all around both low end and top end gear for woods racing. But he's been running some Mx races and needs some more top end. I was thinking of a 29 or 30. My question is,will the cvt transmission make up the difference on hill climbing power? Or will I have to change back to the 35 for XC races. To make it clearer will the 29 pull like the 35 on hills with a cvt trans.Or will it have less power on the hills.

 

What gearing was stock?
My guess is that you will indeed need to change gearing back.35 to 29/30 seems like a big jump.
The 50's usually need more things than just a gear change. Did you get a pipe yet?

 

The stock rear sprocket was a 50t. I put a Kpii pipe on it,but I took it back off. The stock pipe with the Expansion chamber worked better with the clutch kit. This quad is a AC 50.Total mods are the following. Airsal head, Malossi reed and cage, Malossi cdi, Malossi clutch ,rejeted and moded air box. Then I changed the gears from 19/50 to 19/35.I really don't want to put any more money into this quad cuz the season is almost over. I was just wanting to get some practice in for next year. A sponsor is gonna build him a new Kasea for next year. All for free.
