My sprag clutch went out and caused alot of damage to my gears. Is this a common problem?

I'm not sure what the name of the gears are but here goes. the gear that touches the fly whhel gear the gear that touches the starter and the starter gear. Cost alot of money the starter was 311.00 the other 2 gears were 150.00 the sprag clutch about 400.00

I've got a spare bottom end and I've had a few offers for it that are below market value. I see something like this and am glad I haven't sold it. Some of those little parts can be expensive!
