hey guys. i think my clutch is startin to slip bad but how do i tell. it does make a funny slippin almost grindin sound once in a while.

 

put it in the upper gears and hit the gas. if you just hear the engine increase in rpm but your not going faster, it is slipping. you can smell the oil too. if it smells really burnt, more than likely the clutch needs replaced.

 

OK, this bike is an AUTOMATIC, so it doesn't have a clutch per se. I am assuming it might have some kind of centrifugal clutch that kicks in when the engine reaches a certain speed??? That what you are refering to? If so, isn't it adjustable? If it is a grinding sound, might be something worse!

 

sorry about that, i saw 400 and i assumed it was on a 400ex.

 

Check the oil level, it may be too low.

 

Did you have the ecm recall done? Call you dealer if you did not. They might cover your clutch if you did not the the recall done yet.
