Default Need Clutch help bad?? Please help??

My clutch went out on my 04 preddy. Polaris wants 298 for steels springs anf fibers that ridiculous is there an aftermarket clutch out there cheaper if not cheaper at least better If I am going to spend 3 hunderd i would at least like heavier springs bettre clutches. If only factory how do i tell if I don;t need steels some say i might only need fibers is that true any clutch info would be helped

How did your clutch go bad?? I know Doug Nicholas is running major hp, and drag racing with his, and he said he hasn't had a problem yet, it is an 03 too. I would see if the factory will cover it under warrenty.

what kind of oil were you using? Some synthetic oils aren't compatible with clutches. Try Barnett. Not sure if they have a web site or not. I would replace everything, especially if the fiber plates are glazed.

I have the quad since april it is safe too say i have about 100 hours on it about 20 a weekend since april. This will be the 5th oil change since new. I definetly noticed more metal than the last oil changes. The last oil change being less than 3 weeks ago. What started all of this was..I was going to take the clutch cover off to see IF I needed steels as well as fibers. when I removed the drain plug barely any oil came out at all. The last bit of oil was a gray slushy colr full of metal. I took the filter out it too had a good bit of metal in it. I took this valve cover off no metal up there though clean and lubed had oil on it. Warranty is out. I am tryin to get everyones ?? The clutch will not engage pull the clutch in and it still has full power. Pull the clutch in hit the stater button and it moves the quad forward absolutly no clutch. It still feels the exact same no change in the Way it pulls. My shady Mech told me low oil will cause this to happen????/ I keep on top of maintanece pretty well There is no oil in reserve and like I said maybe a 1/4 quart in the crank case. Where did it go/?? I don't know have tore the whole bike down can't find a place where it was leaking from hasn't been smoking. Looked at my trailer where it sits didn't see any large oil spots. That is a big concern of mine too Where did it go. It has never burnt oil before if so very little. I do ride ***** to the wall but don't overrev or constantly hit the limiter or anything abusive. The only BAAd thing I have done is ridin with a looose chain 2 weekends in a row I went to a 12 tooth front and just couldn't get the chain tight enough. Thanxs alot for the input I feel alot better now Need anymore info just let me know thanxs in advance.

I am wondering how hard it is to put a big bore in after i have the cylinder sleeved?? I have been worrying thinking I had to do this now I might just go on and do it if it is someting I can do myself. I saw a thread about the gold links in the timing cahin and how to line them up or something tobe able to take loose does anyone know where. Aloso what is the easiest way to find top dead center of the piston. SOrry for the novel Again thanxs
