LT80 Starter question

1989 LT80 with electric start and pretty new battery. Starter cranks over the engine, but the quad won't start unless I push it along (walking pace). Then, it starts right up. Assuming that the clutch is engaging too low in the revs, but need some advice.
Thanks.

Pushing it shouldn't have anything to do with it.
I guess I'd start with the basics:: new spark plug, clean the carb, do a compression check.
If pushing does effect it there may be a problem in the clutchs as they should roll freely.

Must be the clutches. While I'm in there, I've seen some of your posts re: eliminating a couple rollers. Do you remove opposites? Does it affect clutch life?
I've seen a lot of your posts - thanks for the help.

Rollers: yes you remove opposites. No problems with abnormal wear.
Removal: An impact wrench is needed to remove the front and rear clutch nuts. Other than that normal metric tools is all that's required.
ei:14mm wrench/5mm allen wrench/8mm wrench/17mm socket for the clutch nuts/phillips head screwdriver/10mm wrench...
I allways recommend servicing the clutchs, but I'd do a compression check on this one also.
