Default Just picked up new 2005 Polaris 700 EFI camo 4x4

I am new to the forums. I just picked up my new Polaris Sportsman 700 EFI Camo on Saturday the 13th, I have to say that I am very impressed with this machine. I have never had a ATV with irs, the Polaris irs is magic. I got about 62 miles out of my first tank of gas, not sure if that is good for the EFI's. I rarely ever got that good of mileage on the Kawasaki Prairie. The Prairie really sucked the gas. I did have one problem with the Polaris, I was putting my winch and new front bumper on and noticed a very small puddle of anti-freeze under the four wheeler. It was coming from the hose on the water pump. I tightened the clamp up and it has been bone dry since. As far as the fluid in the front differential i heard you can use ATF fluid. Is Amsoil ATF Fluid ok and the transmission i heard you can use Amsoil Chaincase Fluid, is this right. Just want to know, so I can order some. I use Amsoil in all my vehicles and four wheelers, very good stuff. Please let me know.

How do you think the Sportsman compares to your Prarie?

I think the Prairie was a very good quad, very fast but the straight axle doesn't have a very good ride! It is quicker than the Polaris 700 EFI, but the Sportsman rides very nice. I'm not an aggressive rider, so the Polaris fits my needs. I use my quads for half utility and half for riding trails. I push alot of snow in the winter, the polaris is about 160 pounds heavier, so it will help out in plowing. Don't get me wrong the Prairie is an outstanding quad, but just doesn't fit my needs.

happy to hear ya like the new beast. the IRS is a nice setup and works great in the trails/woods. I had the same hose leaking coolant on my EFI and all it took was a bit of tightening to get it to quit leaking. ok since then. I just changed the oil on my wifes EFI and just wanted to let ya know you can also use mobil 1 synthetic 0w40 oil with other brands of oil filters on your new model. you can go to the parts stores and cross reference the part number from your oil filter to a wix/fram/stp filter of #51357

The 05 SP's in camo are very sharp. I just picked up a 05 700EFI black and silver, and I love it!
