Default Belt light reappears but switch is never tripped.

My belt light comes on when I nail it from a dead stop quite frequently. It will reset but will trip again the next time I nail it again. I checked the belt and there are no frays, bad spots, or glazing. The deflection looks fine but I am at 1.125" in width. This is out of spec but still haven't ordered my Dayco belt yet. Every time I check the trip switch it is never in the "off" position. I don't have to reset it to reset my light. Is this normal or is something amiss?

I have switched the two connectors but never waited for 7 flashes. I just unplug the 2 wire (going to the KEBC?) switch the black and gray and turn on the key. When the flashes slow down I turn off the key and reconnect everything right.

Did the irridium plugs change anything?
Also how is the Dayco belt holding up?

File the belt trip switch a little, sometimes it just hits it enough to knock the sensor just enough and then snap back to the on position. I looked at mine and you could see where it was hitting it (shinny). Also I though I was having that problem but I'm not it is CDI problem on mine I think. Is it putting your bike in limp mode?

Yes it is going into limp mode. I was wheelieing over a small ditch the other day and it tripped on me. I came down hard and almost went over the bars.
Do I just thin it out with a Dremel or what?
Thanks guys
Chris

The switch on mine did the same thing and i just wired the two together after resetting. Now i have the dyna cdi and it bypasses the switch. I read in the book that if the switch got tripped it could damage it. I know that my 650 tripped once but i never had any more issues after i reset it and adjusted the belt deflection. If you do bypass the swtich just keep an eye on the belt more often
