Hey,

I got a leaky water pump in my 2001 sportsman 400 so im replacing the seals. I am not sure how to get the mechanical seal out. Does anyone have the know how 4 this job.

Polaris makes a special tool for pulling the mechanical seal out. It can be done without it, but be very careful. Do not bend the shaft or scar the case. If the shaft gets messed up the cases have to be split to replace it.

 

I did my '02 700 (don't know if they are even remotely similar) and it was a piece of cake and did not need any special tools.
