I have only owned my DS for a few months now, but I see in the forum that everyone is changing clutch springs........Why? Does the clutch now grab enough? Do the springs go bad?
What does it mean when people install 60% springs?

How long does it take to change out the clutch springs and are there any specialy tools required?

The DS come out with springs that are just a bit light for the weight of it and a bigger rider. Most of a full figured guys (LOL) need the heaver springs. Then when the mods start, with out the good springs, you can see just how blue you can make you clutch plates.

The RW's 60% is 60% better??

If the RW's are 60% the Pami's are 80%

Changing springs takes most people about an hour.

You need a socket allen for the case screws,10mm socket,and in/bl torque wrench. Don't over tigthen!!!

I would go 60% with a mildly modded DS and bigger rider. You don't want to over do it because you could end up having problems with your actuator. I am 6'5" and 290 and the 60% springs are perfect.

 

The Pami's are stronger. All the bikes I've put the Pami's in I've never have an actuator failure. The RW's work good, but I've had to even shim them with Stage 1 kits when us full figured guys are on them. [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-smile.gif[/img]

Its all in what you want. If your going more mods later, why by twice?

 

don't forget about the cheese factor.....it gets served up with the wining that sometimes comes along with stiffer clutch springs.
some guys complain about the 40% stiffer springs being too hard on the hand, although I've never had a complaint with my 60% personally and doubt the Pami's would bother me either, and I ride trails with two fingers on the clutch 100% of the ride time constantly feathering with no aches.
