'04 sportsman 400 starting question
#1
when i start it, it doesnt start without giving it a little bit of throttle. even when its warm it'll start at idle and sometimes it wont and i have to push the throttle just a little and it'll start right up. my '01 500 sportsman it starts right up at idle even in cold temps. anyone have any experiance with this or know a solution. i know this aint much of a probelm, but i like all of my vehicles to not have any probelms. thanks for any help

right now it idles at 840-870 rpm. it runs fine there, just doesnt start well. it fires a couple times then dies. if i did increase the idle i would think the clutch would start to engage and when i put it in gear it would grind the gears. but i dont know. thanks for the reply

My 04 700 used to idle around 975 and didnt have a prob with the clutch engaging. Also my 800 idles around 1200. Maybe if you turn it up to 950 to 1000 that may help. My wife's 03 330 was like that till I upped the rpm's. I'm not saying thats the prob with yours but may be worth a try.
