Default Sportsman Transmission Alternate Fluid, Emergency Repair

I need to find out if I can use an alternate fluid for the Sportsman 500 2001 Transmission gear case oil. I drained it and now they are calling for a winter storm and my Polris dealer is closed Monday!! Thanks

Good luck. I found that the correct fluid makes a difference on those "viscous couplers" like Polaris and my Jeep Grand Cherokee. I used aftermarket fluid in my jeep and lost the limited slip in the front axle. I went to the dealer, told them, and they told me it had to be their own fluid or the viscious thing would'nt work. I drained the aftermarket stuff, put their fluid in and it worked fine ever since. I now do believe that all lubricants are not the same no matter what they say on the bottle....

You can use Amsoil Series 2000 Chaincase lube. It works GREAT as a substitute to the Polaris AGL fluid.
