02 Sportsman 700 when warms up quad turns of HELP

Default 02 Sportsman 700 when warms up quad turns of HELP

If the motor is cold it will start right up but after 5 to 10 min when heats up quad turns of and will not start till cools off again. Whadt can I do I need help please [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-sad.gif[/img]I was told it could be a coil or a stater or just the wireing. Is there and test that I can do to see what is wrong.

I had the same problem with mine. the stator was bad. you can't just replace the stator though. You have to replace the stator, fly wheel, cdi box, alternator and ignition. It comes in a kit. cost about $400.00. with labor it end up costing me $700.00. sorry for the bad news.

When it dies, pull the spark plug, re-attach the plug wire, hold the plug base to the engine for a ground, crank it over and watch for proper spark. No spark= electric problems. Spark=fuel related problems.

I also own a o2 700. the early 700 had a bad batch of stators if you contact a dealer they still might be able to warrenty the parts for you. because polaris dealers will know what I'm talk about.
