Default Front Disc brakes Rincon

Hello:

Has anyone replaced the factory drum brakes with aftermarket disc brakes for the Rincon?

If so how well do they work over the stock drum brakes from the factory?

How hard of a job was it?

Was it worth the time and cost?

Thank for the feedback.

Funny you should ask. I just finished installing the disc brake kit from High Lifter. The reason I went that route is because the last time I was out, I applied the front brake and the Rincon jerked to the right. When I got home, I found that mud had got into the "sealed" drum area on the right side. Rather then hassel it, I ordered the disc brake kit. Cost was 335.00 plus tx. Instructions are quite detailed and installation was easy as long as you have a large vise or press to press out the old lug bolts and press on the new ones. If not, you can always have a shop do it for you. I haven't been out yet but I think it will work out fine. I understand Honda is just starting to put front disc brakes on some of their models now.

Thanks Oldtimer:

I have already ordered the high lifter kit also. I changing over to disc because I found out after I had bought the Rincon it does not have much engine braking going down hills, so I figure I will be giving the brakes a real workout. Do you have a lot of experience on down hills with your Rincon? If so, how does it handle them as far as engine braking? Is there a trick to the use the Rincon engine braking?

Thanks for any tips

The only trick is to be sure you are in four wheel drive on a steep down hill. That way when you apply either or both brakes, all wheels slow down.
