On the 400ex sounds terrible when i use them! How easy is it to fix this and what do i do? It seems like they are getting weaker.

Default Bad back breaks!

1) Acquire new pads

2) Loosen but do not remove 2 bolts that hold the pads in place. You will have to bend the 2 tabs out of your way so you can get a 12mm socket over the bolts.

3) Loosen and remove 2 bolts that hold brake assembly to the swingarm

4) Remove the first 2 bolts that hold the pads in place

5) Use C-clamp or c-clamp vise grip to push the hydraulic cylinder back into the brake rotor

6) Push the other movable piece on the opposite side of the hydraulic cylinder back.

7) Install new pads and 2 bolts removed earlier.

8) Install 2 bolts to hold brake assembly to swingarm and torque to 22 ft/lbs

9) Torque the 2 bolts holding the pads to 12-13 ft/lbs.

All done.

You may need to replace the disc too if it is badly gouged from the pads wearing out.
