Transmission slipping honda 185
#1
hi all...my brother has a honda 185 ... works fine in first gear and reverse but when you shift to 2nd or higher the transmission slips out of gear...any ideas what the problem might be or how to fix it?..thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

Sounds like a bent shift fork or detent spring to me. It's definately not a clutch problem.
But before you do anything further here, figure out what he has for sure because there is no such thing as a 185 with reverse.

yes you're right...and it isn't a 250 either....i know he mentioned that it pops out when he puts it in second...and fine in first gear...perhaps he never mentioned reverse at all!!...

Probably a bent shiftfork. We currently have my dad's street bike ('72 honda 750) taken apart for the same problem. New shift fork and 2nd gear on order at honda 1.
