Has anyone heard of Ya-moto, not yamoto
#1
I found a 200c atv on ebay made by ya-moto, not yamoto. Apparently there is a difference cause this one is aircooled while the yamoto 200cc is watercooled. Has anyone dealt with them before?

Duplicatepost from yamoto150 thread.
Other than the pictures, No I have not ever heard of them. There is a bunch of people selling chinese quads under different names using a lot of the same components. If you are very handy with a wrench I might give it a try. if not I would probubly passon it. My wifes yamoto is nice now but needed a lot of tlc/time. Click on the camera below my nick nmae to check it out.

I am not scared of wrenching at all. I work on chinook helicopters and have a whole lot of automotive experience. I guess they only thing would be that I havn't played with these small carbs. I have a basic knowlege of carbs from different gas R/C applications. It does seem like half of the chinese quads share 80% of the parts. I just dont feel like buying something that no one will ever be able to help me with.
Thanks

I would probubly go for it then. A carb is a carb in my book. Float, jets, needles etc. The one thing that I will say is that I have never been able to get a shop manual for my wifes yamoto. I cant even get a valve clearance spec from them. I have turned to my honda small engine manuals for all my tech info. I would assume that the 200 engine is some kind of honda clone too. But not sure. If you do get one please come here and post all your info/knowledge gained from the purchase/ownership.

Just FYI........
I have a buddy at work that bought two of those same Ya-motos.
He said they were junk.
He took them out riding, there were parts missing, parts that were not assembled right, he could not get them to run good at all no matter what he tried to do.
He said they were junk.
He actually shipped 'em back and got his money back.
He ended up buying his kids something else.
Funny thing is, I told him to be very careful ordering off-brands from the internet. You never know what you are getting and there is junk out there.
Good Luck

I'll ask him where he got them.
But I know for sure it was the Ya-moto, because he specifically said it was with a -(dash) in it, adn d that it wasn't the yamoto.
Anyway, I'll let ya know if I find out.

Well, I went ahead and got two of them.
I just wanted ta add an update. I will cover a more detailed and complete reviw later in its own topic.
I have to say that I am pleasently surprized.
I will see if I can add some pictures and specs if anyone is interested in getting one. My biggest problem so far was with the guys not being sure of the specs on their product. Luckily every thing turned out find and I seemed to have ended up bith the best specs.
